Ancap, Verona 1964

The Italians do porcelain better and the master craftspeople at Ancap are here to prove it. Come mai? Not only does Ancap’s porcelain have that beautifully white, translucent quality you might expect, but it is compact, strong and particularly hard-wearing, which makes it perfect for creative kitchen clatterers like us. Ancap’s secret is high firing temperatures of exactly 1,410°c, which La DoubleJ’s painstakingly printed plates and vases are baked in before being finished with 18k gold by the hand of one of their 100+ artisan employees. In one word? Virtuoso.

Famed for their zenith and dedication to the intricate craft of glass blowing, Italian artisanal legends, Salviati marry their ancient roots with their innovative approach to design and meticulous attention to detail. Masters of Murano glass for over 150 years, Salviati makes all of La DoubleJ’s vibrant glassware by hand, moulding gumdrop glass into our contrast color carafes and rigadin rainbow water cups. Talk about supporting Italian craft? Antonio Salviati set up shop in 1859 precisely to preserve the already disappearing art of Murano glassmaking, which makes us double-punch proud to partner with them today. Their work literally and metaphorically blows us away.
